Wings & Wheels

Wings & Wheels car show and fly-in is your chance to venture inside a general aviation airport and admire amazing airplanes and autos up-close! See classic cars and hear their restoration stories, check out a variety of aircraft, enter a raffle sponsored by Brad’s Chevy, enjoy refreshments from Abshere Concession food truck, and tour our museum. We thank Parsons Financial Advisors and Starfire Lumber for sponsoring!

While this is a family-friendly event, we ask that you leave pets at home to protect their paws from the hot blacktop.

Admission:  $5 for adults and children 12 and older; free for children under 12.

45th Annual Jim Wright Memorial Stearman Fly-in

  • The 45th Annual Jim Wright Memorial Stearman Fly-will honor the life and legacy of beloved Cottage Grove aviator Jim Wright.  Learn why “in 2003 the Cottage Grove airport was-renamed Jim Wright Field in remembrance of a kind and gentle man of extraordinary vision.”  Come to the Oregon Aviation Historical Society & Museum to see Stearman biplanes and other aircraft.  Arrive early and sign up for your ride in a 1929 Travelair open cockpit biplane to experience Cottage Grove from the air!  Meet the pilots, tour the museum, and enjoy refreshments from a food truck.  FREE admission!
  •      Stearman planes, named after designer Lloyd Stearman, were used to train pilots in World War II. Enjoy the roar of radial engines on the ground and in the sky!
  •      While this is a family-friendly event, we ask that visitors leave their pets at home to protect their paws from the hot blacktop.

The Great Oregon Homebuilt Fly-In

The 5th annual Great Oregon Homebuilt Fly-in celebrates Oregon’s long legacy of advancing experimental aircraft and the pioneering pilots who made it possible.  Meet pilots who built their own planes and enjoy a meal from the Meatloaf Burgers Plus food truck.  Learn about the origins of homebuilt aircraft in our museum and see the modern-day results of their efforts.  Come see for yourself how Oregonians have been making aviation affordable and accessible to everyone at this FREE event!

The blacktop gets very hot- please leave pets at home to protect their paws.

Outlaw Overview: 

Watch this video that includes interviews with early aviators who tell what it was like to fight with the feds prior to WWII and how they sought to change the regulations after the war. 

You can learn about the mission and some of the displays at OAHS. Including the Baby Fleet, the RV3, and the Story Specials #1 and #2 which all had tremendous impact in experimental aviation history, and all from right here in Oregon.

We are proud to share our states’ deep roots in aviation history.
